Snark, you must have omitted something... I mean, I don't see any nominations for "Passions". I'm confused... How can this be?

So good to know that the Academy thinks so highly of my ex AND Nicole Forester's Olive Garden commercial.

Come on, Brian...you know lifetime achievement awards are never listed in the nominations!

In what universe does Tammin Sursok deserve a nomination? Unfreakingbelievable...

That's nothing. Since when do we honor GL for Live and Direct-to-Tape Video Mixing? (Really? For THAT hot mess?)

The same universe that has Heather on Y&R in the "younger actress" category. Isn't she about 30 years old? She supposedly graduated from law school! The same universe that poor Judi Evans get a nomination for Bonnie/Adrienne on Days! I've always liked her work (GL, Days, AW,Days again) but I barely remember her on the show this year.

wait a sec... Caitlin Van Zandt wasn't nominated???? Okay, I can't stomach GL these days, but when I see her she's great. The only person I hope wins is Judi Evans.

Was Pelphrey even on for more than a few weeks? Why am I even asking, I know how these "things" work...

And no Flannery, no Zimmer, no Slezak, no Lucci...

They must have thought that Marcy Rylan was going to be nominated. She had to stand there with poo on her face as Van read the nominess (for which he was one).

So, to recap:

Robert Woods doesn't get a nomination for his heartbreaking work during the Asa's Funeral episodes, but Thaao Penghlis does for dressing up as a clown and riding a horse into the living room.

Despite having some heavy storylines over the last year or so, James Scott doesn't get nominated, but bland, boring Darin Brooks does (which I guess means sorta-rapist < cousin-schtupper).

No noms for Patrick Duffy or Peter Reckell or Stephen Nichols or Ric Hearst or even Billy Miller (Richie Novak), but Kristoff St. John gets a nod for literally pouring coffee every week.

No noms for Nancy Lee Grahn or Rebecca Herbst or Mary Beth Evans or Kristian Alfonso or even Kathy Brier, yet Judi Evans and Tracey Bregman, who have had a total combined screen time of about seven minutes this past year, both got nods.

Nicole Forrester? Seriously?

But even if I could ignore all that stuff and the fact that the WORST SOAP OPERA IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSE somehow managed to snag all three major show noms, I cannot and will not accept THIS:

Vail Bloom (Heather, Y&R)

Emily O'Brien (Jana, Y&R)

Tammin Sursok (Colleen, Y&R)

WTF? How did the three worst actresses on this show get noms? Was this a backstage rib gone horribly wrong? Are hanging and dimpled chads involved? I'm no fan of Christel Khalil, but at least she did the best she could with the horrid stories she was given, and she certainly acted circles around Yippee, Yappee and Yahooey. Even Adrienne "Baby Snooks" Frantz had better work this year than those three, limited range and all. And don't get me started on the absence of Kirsten Storms, Kristen Alderson and perennially-overlooked Chrishell Stause.

What a sad, pathetic joke the Daytime Emmys have turned into. Is it any wonder the genre is dying?

Coming from awards expert Tom O'Neil's GoldDerby Forums at The Envelope (link below), lots and lots of pissed off people. For me, I've been a soap-watcher for the better part of 25 years, and have escaped them over the past two months (because they're no longer acceptable/watchable). I'm used to the Daytime Emmy awards' b.s. nominations. (It's kind of appropriate that the overall quality of nominations should be every bit as poor as the collective material rendered on television by the daytime duds themselves! P.S. I'll cut "One Life to Live" and "wonder" head scribe Ron Carlivati some slack for doing their/his job.)

I'm really surprised at this year's noms.

Just who are these three from Y&R in the Younger Actress Category and why haven't I heard about how great they are?

Nicole Forrester, Guiding Light Nom'd for Best Drama AND Writing.......I guess anyone can have a few good days out of 250 for the entire year! With the garbage churning out of the writers, you have to give kudos to any actor on the show getting a nom.

Sad part is that I'm a life long soap watcher. I used to know all major soap actors by name when Emmy nominations came out. I'm going to have to go back and review the list to see what roles these people are playing. I'm an SOD subscriber to boot! However, I'm reading your posts and saying "OK, who's that?" I thought this was supposed to be the best and the brightest!

You're not alone Tammy... even Brian Dattillo (I may have spelled that incorrectly, but I don't care given the point I'm about to make) mispronounced at least three names as he announced some of the nominees on The View. Most glaringly, he read Tracey Bregman as Tracey BERGman, which the average lay person would be forgiven for, but she's been on YR/BB forever, and I find it hard to believe that these two L.A. soap stars have never crossed paths. Rat boy.
